The Organization
ChildSavers, founded in 1924 as the Children's Memorial Clinic, is a non-profit child development and children's mental health center. We deliver services in three broad programmatic areas:
1)
Our Child Development Services department focuses on the need of parents,
teachers, childcare providers, and others who care for children.
Because of the distressed state of families in the inner city,
the program offers a range of services aimed at helping families
become contributing members of the community: Healthy Start,
Emergency Child Care Subsidy, KIDCare Training Academy, Child
Abuse Prevention Services, and a USDA Child Care Food Program.
2) Our Guidance Clinic addresses the mental, emotional and behavioral problems that interfere with a child's personal growth. Since 1972, the Clinic has operated its outpatient mental health services for children and their families from our Church Hill location. Most of our referrals come from two principal sources: schools and parents.
3) The Trauma Response Program is a comprehensive set of services that will reduce the effects of violence on children by providing direct and immediate intervention with children affected by violence, and by promoting the development of non-violent community through extensive community education efforts. This program is based on a very successful model developed by Yale University's Center for Children Exposed to Violence.
The Clinic serves children under age 18 and their families and caregivers.
